Meet Dan Boots, Indianapolis City-County Councillor, District 3

Councillor Dan Boots is the Councillor for City-County Council District 3. In his professional life, Councillor Boots is a senior partner in the Intellectual Property and Technology group of the law firm Bingham Greenebaum, LLP (Indianapolis office) focusing his practice on counseling emerging and established businesses in all areas of intellectual property and technology development, including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret unfair competition, and computer software/hardware licensing, E-commerce matters, and entertainment and the arts.

Councillor Dan Boots earned a B.S.I.M./Engineering Option from Purdue University, Krannert School of Management, and his Juris Doctorate from Indiana University Robert h. McKinney School of Law.

Councillor Boots believes his legal expertise has been a big benefit in his community involvement. Skills needed in the legal profession transfer well to community service. As a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Councillor Boots has actively worked alongside the most influential northeast side neighborhood groups, such as BRAG (Binford Redevelopment and Growth), GACC (Greater Allisonville Community Counsel), North Shadeland Alliance, and Steinmeier Estates Neighborhood Association. As a long-time local activist, Councillor Boots has collaborated in crafting a business/residential quality of life plan for Northeast Indianapolis, as well as promoting the city-sponsored Castleton Revitalization Plan and Nickel Plate Trail.

Finally, Councillor Boots understands well the needs and challenges of our local community. His legal knowledge and experience allow him to critically analyze issues and separate fact from fiction, enabling him to formulate wise and reasonable courses of action needed to address the challenges our community will certainly face in the future.
